My Review:

This book was such a fun read. Nate appears to be a typical child. He goes to school, lives his life and much like my son loves to daydream. The amazing thing is that Nate’s daydreams seem to take him into very dangerous situations that always have him saving the day for example; he helps people escape a building, or helps locate a missing child.

Nate and his class are supposed to go on a class trip to New York. Nate is very excited and worried about this trip and how they will have enough money to go. His class needs to raise the funds to go on this trip. Now what is so great about this book is that Nate’s daydreams help him to solve the puzzle of how the class can raise funds.

I loved the very simple premise that Dreams CAN come true! This is an excellent story to have your child read or to read with your child. It is full of action and adventure. Nate is every child’s superhero come to life, and it makes you wonder if perhaps all those children who daydream away their time aren’t truly superheroes in the making.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good laugh or a fabulous family read.

Meet Nathan!

Hi. My name is Nathan Rockledge. Thanks or having me on your blog today! I was trying to think of something interesting to write about and that author lady, Karen Toz, said, “Just tell them about yourself, Nathan, you’re a pretty interesting person.” So here I go:

I just turned eleven years old, and I had the coolest birthday party ever. Laser Tag! I know! Anyway – I’m in fifth grade now, which is a pretty big deal. I’m really looking forward to our class trip to New York City – if we get to go that is.

One thing I love to do is draw cartoons ...like the one on the cover there. Sometimes I get in trouble because I’m supposed to be doing something else, but I just can’t help myself. Once I get started drawing, I just get lost in what I’m doing. I usually draw myself doing awesome stuff as Nate Rocks. He’s me, only cooler.

I especially have to be careful in school. There is this one girl named Lisa Crane, and she is so annoying. Her mom and my mom are best friends. Anytime I get in trouble in school, she goes right home and tells her mom who of course immediately tells my mom. Girls! Don’t even get me started!

My older sister, Abby, says my drawings are dumb, but I think they’re cool. Abby’s always in some kind of a mood – Mom says it’s just a phase, but so far this phase has been lasting as long as I can remember. Older sisters can definitely be a pain sometimes. Luckily, she spends most of her time texting, so for the most part she leaves me alone.

My dad is okay. He works a lot, but don’t ask me what he does – it has something to do with numbers and data. I used to try to ask him about it, but no matter what you ask Dad, he always ends up telling some story from his childhood that we’ve all already heard a million times before.

Mom likes to spend most of her time in the kitchen cooking, which I find kind of funny, since her cooking is worse than horrible. I’m not kidding! Luckily, Tommy’s mom let’s me eat at her house a lot. Tommy’s my best friend. He’s pretty cool as far as friends go. I think you’d like him a lot.

Well I guess that’s pretty much it ... I should go get ready for school. Thanks again for inviting me here today!
